Rashi Jain
Graduate Student, Aerospace Systems
What are you are studying/what you are interested in studying and/or researching while at Purdue? If you have done internships or other applicable experiences, feel free to include them here.
I am working towards my Ph.D. in Aerospace Systems with a minor in Propulsion. My research is on innovating methods to design extra-terrestrial habitats on Moon and Mars with resilience.
What made you want to join the Leading Women Toward Space Careers program?
I am joining the Leading Women Toward Space Career to (i) network with people who have worked in the discipline and have made a mark for themselves. I believe there is a lot I can learn from them and use that to carve my own niche. (ii) to network with students (graduate and undergraduate) like me, to have a sense of belongingness and support within and outside the program.
What area would you like to work in after graduation? (What career path, interests, opportunities, etc., would you like to accomplish? What field are you interested in?)
After graduation, I would like to join industry. I will be interested in working on space systems and exploring the different possibilities within the field – in mission design, technology development and realization. I want to work towards making space accessible to all, create one reliable and accessible source of information that people can use to work towards their own objectives.
